Frederick woman arrested for setting home on fire

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — A Frederick woman has been arrested on charges of setting her home on fire as she was getting an eviction order.

Police say the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office was serving an eviction notice to 45-year-old Whilermine Kahindo at her Frederick home on Monday. Instead of allowing deputies inside, police say Kahindo used several liquid incendiary devices to start fires on multiple levels of the home and near the fuel tank of her car, which was parked inside a garage.

Police say Frederick fire and rescue authorities were able to put all the fires out expeditiously.

Kahindo was arrested on two arson charges.

No attorney is listed for Kahindo in court records.
