WASHINGTON (AP) — A D.C. Board of Elections spokeswoman says thieves stole digital voter books from a polling site ahead of Tuesday’s election.
Board spokeswoman Denise Tolliver says the precinct captain at Davis Elementary School was notified of the theft around 5 a.m., and that the four electronic books were replaced in time for the opening of the polls at 7 a.m.
Tolliver says the books contain voter information but that whoever took them won’t be able to access that without being connected to an elections board network.
Tolliver says at another precinct, a voting machine went out as someone was casting a ballot but that it didn’t stop anyone from voting and was fixed by technicians soon after.
She says voting has been smooth in the District overall.
