Charleston Southern defeats Monmouth 27-0

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) — Austin Brown scored two rushing touchdowns to lead Charleston Southern to a 27-0 victory over Monmouth on Saturday.

Brown completed 6 of 19 passes for 73 yards and added 54 yards rushing for Charleston Southern (6-3, 1-2 Big South). Ben Robinson carried the ball 10 times for 91 yards and had a touchdown. Charleston Southern gained 338 total yards rushing, compared to just 15 for Monmouth.

Brown scored on a 12-yard run in the third quarter to give Charleston Southern a 21-0 lead and David Kennedy converted two 34-yard field goals in the fourth quarter.

Brandon Hill was 14 of 28 for 97 yards with two interceptions for Monmouth (5-3, 0-2). The Hawks were held to 112 total yards.

Monmouth’s Lucas Santangelo had his 33-yard field goal attempt blocked late in the fourth quarter.
