Oguchi Onyewu signs short-term deal at Charlton

LONDON (AP) — Second-tier English club Charlton says it has signed American defender Oguchi Onyewu on a short-term contract until January.

The 32-year-old Onyewu has played 69 times for the United States and featured in two World Cups, but was not included in the team for the 2014 tournament in Brazil.

Onyweu was a free agent after playing for second-tier club Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the 2013-14 season, and could make his debut against his former team on Saturday.

He has also previously played for teams across Europe, including Newcastle, AC Milan and Sporting Lisbon.
