Omni putting hotel at Cowboys’ new headquarters

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys are partnering with Omni Hotels & Resorts to develop an upscale hotel where the team is building its new headquarters.

The 300-room hotel in the Dallas suburb of Frisco will be a key part of the mixed-use development going up around a 12,000-seat indoor stadium and team practice facility. The stadium also will be used by the Frisco school district.

The Cowboys plan to open the facility for training camp in 2016. They will have at least a week of camp at the site, which will have outdoor practice fields.

The hotel is part of a planned development of corporate offices along with retail outlets and restaurants.

Frisco is 30 miles north of Dallas, and about 20 miles northeast of the team’s existing practice facility in Irving.
