Ellison leads Georgia Southern past Troy, 42-10

STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) — Quarterback Kevin Ellison had three short touchdown runs, and L.A. Ramsby ran for two more scores to help Georgia Southern rout Troy 42-10 on Thursday night.

The Eagles (7-2, 6-0 Sun Belt) have won six straight since a 42-38 loss at Georgia Tech. They also lost their opener, 24-23 at North Carolina State.

Ellison ran for 99 yards on 13 carries and was 5 of 9 for 31 yards passing. Backup quarterback Favian Upshaw ran for 96 yards on seven carries and completed his only pass.

Ellison made it 28-3 early in third quarter with a 2-yard run, Ramsby added a 9-yard scoring run early in the fourth and Upshaw completed the scoring for the Eagles with a 19-yard run.

Khary Franklin scored on a 3-yard run for Troy (1-8, 1-4) with 1:18 left.

Ellison had 6- and 1-yard scoring runs in the first quarter to give the Eagles a 14-0 lead.

Ryan Kay made a 25-yard field goal for Troy early in the second, and Ramsby made it 21-3 with a 4-yard run midway through the quarter.
