Gun found in carry-on bag at Roanoke airport

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — Federal authorities say a loaded handgun was found in a carry-on bag at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport.

The Transportation Security Administration says airport police confiscated the weapon and the airport’s operations weren’t affected.

The agency says a TSA officer staffing a checkpoint X-ray machine discovered the .40-caliber handgun in a Moneta man’s carry-on bag. The gun was loaded with 15 rounds, including one in the chamber.

The incident occurred Monday.
