Woman walking on sidewalk struck, killed by car

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Annapolis police say a 23-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car as she walked on a sidewalk downtown.

It happened about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday on Duke of Gloucester Street. Officers say an 81-year-old man was driving near Conduit Street when he hit a parked car.

Police say the car went over the curb, onto the sidewalk and hit the woman. She died at a local hospital.

Authorities say the driver remained at the scene. The accident is under investigation.
