Where missing Relisha Rudd’s case stands on her birthday

WASHINGTON — Investigators are still looking into leads months after Relisha Rudd disappeared last spring. She would be 9 years old Wednesday, Oct. 29.

No one has seen Rudd since March 1, when she was spotted at a motel with 51-year-old Khalil Tatum, a janitor at the homeless shelter where she and her family lived.

Police found Tatum’s body a month later in Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, but there has been no sign of Rudd.

Last weekend, a K9 team from Maine called VK9, whose organizers say they were called in by Rudd’s family, searched the same park land in Northeast, where police conducted a week-long grid search for Rudd last spring.

D.C. police say the investigation is active and ongoing. Investigators in the Youth Investigations Division continue to chase any leads in the case.
