Possible sighting of ambush suspect reported

CANADENSIS, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania State Police are reporting another possible sighting of the suspect in the deadly ambush of a state trooper.

Eric Frein (freen) has eluded a manhunt for the past month and a half.

A police spokeswoman says a resident reported the possible sighting of the 31-year-old early Tuesday afternoon in Barrett Township, Monroe County. The township surrounds the community of Canadensis, where Frein lived.

Trooper Connie Devens declined further comment on the report.

Frein is accused of opening fire outside the Blooming Grove state police barracks on Sept. 12, killing Trooper Bryon Dickson and seriously wounding Trooper Alex Douglass.

Last week, a pair of possible sightings over a four-day period prompted closure of nearby schools.

The search is now in its 46th day.
