ELON, N.C. (AP) — Michael Rocco directed a balanced offense and the Richmond defense was dominating in a 30-10 win over Elon on Saturday.
Rocco threw for 296 yards as the Spiders (6-2, 3-1 Colonial Athletic Association) piled up 489 yards in total offense. Elon had 141 yards of total offense, 67 coming on a final drive that led to a touchdown with 51 seconds left in the game.
Richmond got off to a quick start, going 69 yards in four plays after the opening kickoff, capped by Jacobi Green’s 39-yard run. With the first of Peter Yoder’s three field goals, the Spiders have out-scored opponents 85-10 in the first quarter.
Seth Fisher had a 2-yard touchdown run with 9 seconds left in the first half to make it 20-3. Porter Abell had a 3-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Elon only had 17 yards rushing on 26 attempts in the game.
