7 hurt when car smashes into California restaurant

DUBLIN, Calif. (AP) — Police say all seven people injured when a car crashed into a Northern California restaurant have now been released from hospitals.

Lt. Nate Schmidt tells the Contra Costa Times (http://bit.ly/1wiuHSV ) that the 56-year-old driver had just pulled into the parking lot outside Taqueria Los Pericos on Thursday night when she accidentally accelerated and plowed through the storefront in Dublin, a city about 25 miles east of Oakland.

Schmidt says six customers and the driver were taken to hospitals. Police Lt. Herb Walters said Friday that the most serious injury was a broken leg, and all have been discharged after treatment.

Police preliminary investigation shows driver error is to blame and alcohol wasn’t a factor.

Schmidt says it’s fortunate that there weren’t more traumatic injuries.
