NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A 31-year-old Portsmouth man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for distributing heroin and crack cocaine.

Antwan Black was sentenced in federal court Tuesday. He was given an additional five years in prison for possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

According to court documents, Black was the leader of a Portsmouth-based drug trafficking organization. Between 2009 and July, 2013, Black sold heroin, cocaine-base and cocaine in the Portsmouth area. In 2012 and 2013, Black began using other people to man hotel rooms in the downtown Portsmouth area to sell drugs.

Black was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 10, 2014 and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin and 28 grams or more of crack cocaine on March 17.
