PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Romanian princess who helped run a cockfighting enterprise in Oregon has been sentenced to three years of probation and won’t have to go to prison.

U.S. District Judge Michael Mosman sentenced Irina Walker on Wednesday. Her husband, a former sheriff’s deputy, got the same sentence. Both apologized in court.

The Walkers pleaded guilty earlier this year to operating an illegal gambling business. As part of the plea agreement, the Walkers agreed to sell real estate and pay $200,000 to the government.

The Walkers were arrested in 2013 after authorities said they staged at least 10 cockfighting derbies.

The Walkers charged spectators each $20 to enter, and the crowds generally exceeded 100 people. The couple also made money from the sale of alcohol.

Walker is the third daughter of former Romanian King Michael I.
