Police contacted actress before she was found dead

AUBURN, Wash. (AP) — Suburban Seattle police say they contacted actress Misty Upham, known for her roles in “August: Osage County,” ”Frozen River” and “Django Unchained,” several times before she was found dead in a ravine last week.

Auburn police said Tuesday that officers contacted Upham four times since July 2013, and each time she agreed to be taken by private ambulance for further evaluation. Once she told investigators she had a black eye and an ankle injury from jumping out a second-story window.

The manner of her death hasn’t been determined, but police say there was no sign of foul play. However, her father has said he doesn’t believe she committed suicide.

Police say they made numerous attempts to find Upham when relatives reported her missing Oct. 6, including trying to ping her cellphone. Her service had been discontinued.
