Owner finds beloved dog stolen from Md. home

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) — A beloved dog stolen during a robbery in Prince George’s County was found on the streets 35 miles from home.

Police say a tip from a good Samaritan led 10-year-old Arwyn’s owner to find the female boxer Monday in Calvert in southern Maryland. That’s about 35 miles from her Greenbelt home.

Arwyn’s owner, Gabrielle Cowgill-Wilkins, who is seven months pregnant, tells WRC-TV that her dog is “a gentle old gal” and that the two have been together since Arwyn was just 6 weeks old.

Police say one or more thieves stole Arwyn from Cowgill-Wilkins’ home last week. They also got a diamond ring, a laptop and other electronics.

Arwyn’s theft inspired a Twitter hashtag, #FindArwyn and hundreds of Facebook shares of her story.
