Driver charged in fatal apartment wreck in Henrico

HENRICO, Va. (AP) — Henrico County police have charged the driver of a car that crashed into an apartment, killing a 6-year-old boy.

Police tell media outlets that 23-year-old Ronnie De La Cruz of Henrico is charged with reckless driving on private property.

Police say a car driven by De La Cruz hit an apartment building on Oct. 5 and crashed into the bedroom of one apartment. Raul Exekiel Nicholas Vasquez was injured and later died.

The boy’s mother and 2-year-old brother also were injured. Police say they have since recovered.
