Austin Peay holds off Murray State 20-13

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Mickey Macius threw three touchdowns, all to Jared Beard, and Austin Peay snapped an 18-game losing streak with a 20-13 win over Murray State on Saturday night.

The losing streak had been the longest active skid in FCS.

The Governors (1-6, 1-2 Ohio Valley Conference) took advantage of turnovers to capture and pad their lead, then held on for their first win since Nov. 17, 2012. Macius finished 18-of-22 passing for 201 yards. Beard had seven catches for 88 yards, hauling in TD grabs of 30, 7 and 14 yards. Otis Gerron had 137 yards on 26 carries for the Governors.

Murray State (2-5, 1-3) outgained the Governors in total yardage, 395-349, but had five turnovers, two of which set up Austin Peay scoring drives.

KD Humphries was 28 of 44 for 235 yards and two interceptions for the Racers, while Pokey Harris had a 24-yard TD run.
