Varga scores 5 TDs, Yale pushes past Colgate 45-31

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Tyler Varga ran for 184 yards and scored five touchdowns as Yale put away Colgate 45-31 on Saturday.

Varga ran for scores of 1, 7 and 5 yards while also finding the end zone on an 8-yard pass from Morgan Roberts.

Roberts hit Robert Clemons III on a 68-yard strike in the fourth quarter to break a 31-all tie. After Yale forced a punt, Varga broke away on the next play for his fifth touchdown, a 69-yarder with 4:42 remaining.

Colgate drove to the Yale 5, but Dale Harris broke up Bret Mooney’s fourth down pass with just over two minutes left.

Roberts finished 23 of 33 for 379 yards and two touchdowns. Deon Randall finished with 114 yards receiving, Grant Wallace added 104 and Clemons 98 for the Bulldogs (4-1).

John Wilkins had two rushing scores for Colgate (4-3) and Chris Morgan contributed a 93-yard kickoff return touchdown.
