Robert Morris edges CCSU 27-24

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) — Derik Abbott threw for two touchdowns and Hunter Khaleghi kicked four field goals, including a 42-yarder, to lift Robert Morris to a 27-24 win over Central Connecticut State on Saturday.

Trailing late in the fourth quarter, Robert Morris (1-6, 1-1 Northeast Conference) got a key sack and fumble recovery by Forrest Mason at the CCSU 13, setting up the winning 11-yard TD pass from Abbott to Duane Mitchell two plays later. The Colonials then got the two-point conversion, and held off two more CCSU drives to cement the win.

Abbott finished 18-for-28 and 215 yards passing, Ryan Thermil had 113 yards rushing on 32 carries, and Nic Lamica had 112 yards on eight catches, including a 25-yard TD grab.

CCSU (2-5, 0-2) was led by Rob Hollomon, who ran for 164 yards and two touchdowns, giving him 3,429 career yards and a new school record.
