Best D.C. neighborhood for trick-or-treating?

Real estate listing firm Zillow Inc. is out with its annual “Trick-or-Treat” index, ranking the best cities for collecting candy and the best neighborhoods within those cities.

Washington ranks No. 13 on the 2014 Trick-or-Treat Index, down from No. 8 last year.

Zillow bases its rankings on walkability, crime and its own home-value index, presumably meaning those places with higher-priced homes offer more generous homeowners for trick-or-treaters to hit up.

San Francisco ranks No. 1 this year for candy craving kids, followed by Los Angeles and Chicago.

Baltimore barely made the list, coming in at No. 20.

Within the District, Zillow says trick-or-treaters will find the best prospects for filling up their candy bag in Georgetown.

Zillow’s Top 5 D.C. Neighborhoods to Trick-or-Treat in in Washington:

  1. Georgetown
  2. Takoma
  3. American University Park
  4. Chevy Chase
  5. Friendship Heights
