White attorney challenges police for detaining black man on her street

WASHINGTON — A video showing a white D.C. attorney standing up to police who are detaining an African-American man has gone viral.

In the video, Jody Westby confronts police outside her home in the Distict’s Foxhall Crescent neighborhood.

Police had detained handyman Dennis Stucky because they were investigating a burglary in the area and was noted to appear suspicious. Westby disagrees in the video and says to police, “Just because he’s black, doesn’t mean he’s here to rob a house.”

She then escorts Stucky away.

Police say no misconduct was captured on the video.
