Revolution clinch playoff spot with tie

MONTREAL (AP) — Lee Nguyen scored in the 69th minute to give the New England Revolution the point they needed to clinch an Eastern Conference playoff spot in a 2-2 tie with the Montreal Impact on Saturday.

Kelyn Rowe also scored for New England, 7-1-1 in its last nine matches and 15-13-4 overall. Marco Di Vaio scored twice for Montreal (6-18-8).

Nguyen tied it on a chip shot from the edge of the area that appeared to go off defender Calum Mallace’s foot and drop behind goalkeeper Evan Bush. Nguyen has 15 goals this season.
