Prince George’s County schools name interim CFO

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Prince George’s County schools have named a former deputy superintendent in Howard County to be interim chief financial officer for the school system.

The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/ZiSCDd ) reports Schools Chief Kevin Maxwell welcomed Ray Brown to the school system at a school board meeting Thursday night. Maxwell says Brown brings extensive budget and financial experience

Brown retired from Howard County last year. He once served as the Howard County schools’ chief operating officer.

In Prince George’s County, he will oversee the school district’s 2016 budget, payroll, purchasing and workers’ compensation, as well as a staff of 175 employees.

Brown replaces Colby White who resigned in September after the state said he and his wife had committed insurance fraud.
