TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A Florida prosecutor is dropping charges against a 61-year-old woman who had a stun gun fired in her back by a Tallahassee police officer.

Viola Young was arrested last month for resisting and obstructing an officer without violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Tallahassee police suspended Officer Terry Mahan after a video surfaced showing Young getting fired on as she walked away from him. She fell face-first to the ground.

State Attorney Willie Meggs told WCTV-TV that “common sense dictates” that the woman should never have been fired on with a stun gun.

Charges are also being dropped against three of Young’s family members who were arrested at the same time.

The Tallahassee Democrat reported that prosecutors concluded there was “little evidence” that could be used against Young.
