Don’t Forget B-CC Rescue Day On Saturday

The Taste of Bethesda isn’t the only game in town on Saturday.

The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad (5020 Battery Lane) will be holding its annual Rescue Day open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. just a few blocks away.

Tours of the station, firefighter hats for the kids, a moonbounce will all be part of the festivities. Rescue Squad volunteers will also do live demonstrations of emergency responses and show off a thermal imaging camera used to help locate fire victims in heavy smoke.

Unfortunately for residents of a Battery Lane apartment, last year’s Rescue Day was preceded by a real-life emergency in which 14 people had to be rushed to hospitals because of carbon monoxide poisoning. The Rescue Squad’s location — across the street from the apartment where the incident happened — was key in helping to prevent more victims.
