Baltimore schools hiring for new school buildings

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore schools are looking to hire new employees in maintenance, engineering and transportation and will hold a job fair next week.

WBAL-TV (http://bit.ly/Zxe87N ) reports the school system is looking to add employees as the city adds more building space for about 8,000 students.

A school operations job fair is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Chief Operating Officer Keith Scroggins says they want as many talented and qualified people to apply as possible.

The hiring comes a year after Baltimore received nearly $1 billion from the state to build and renovate local schools. The first of more than a dozen new buildings could begin opening as soon as 2017.
