Artwork enlivens Pittsburgh-to-Maryland bike trail

FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) — The city of Frostburg is unveiling two metal sculptures along the Great Allegheny Passage hiking-and-biking trail.

The event Friday is meant to add interest to the trail, which runs from Pittsburgh to Cumberland. There it meets the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath, enabling people to hike or ride another 185 miles to Washington.

The sculptures are by Scott Cawood of Sharpsburg. They depict human heads topped with fanciful hats made of spoked wheels that spin in the wind.
