Pittsylvania man claims 1st Money Ball $1m prize

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A Pittsylvania County man is the first $1 million winner of the Virginia Lottery’s new Money Ball game.

The Lottery says a ticket purchased by Earl Kirks Jr. of Dry Fork for the Oct. 1 drawing matched all five winning numbers, and the Gold Million Dollar Money Ball was drawn. When the gold ball is drawn, the top prize increases from $100,000 to $1 million.

Kirks bought the winning ticket at Apple Market in Danville. He claimed his prize on Wednesday.

The winning numbers were 5-9-29-30-32.

Money Ball debuted on Sept. 14. The game replaced the Lottery’s Win for Life game.
