Clarification: Israel-Lebanon story

JERUSALEM (AP) — In a story Oct. 7, The Associated Press quoted the Israeli military as describing a Hezbollah blast that wounded two Israeli soldiers as a “breach of Israel’s sovereignty.” The story should have made clear that the attack took place in a disputed area, Shebaa Farms, where the borders of Israel, Lebanon and Syria meet. Israel says the enclave is part of the Golan Heights, which it captured from Syria in 1967. Lebanon and Syria say Shebaa Farms belong to Lebanon, while the United Nations says the area is part of Syria and that Damascus and Israel should negotiate its fate.
