2 boys plunge out California apartment window

HAWTHORNE, Calif. (AP) — Two toddlers have fallen out of a Southern California apartment window but their father says they’ll recover.

It happened shortly before noon Tuesday in unincorporated Hawthorne.

Authorities say the 2-year-old boys were napping on a bed next to a second-story window when they apparently crawled through an opening where glass slats had been removed. They landed on concrete.

KABC-TV (http://bit.ly/1vRtCxz) says the father had removed slats that the boys recently had broken them while playing with a ball.

Fire officials say one boy was taken to a hospital in critical condition while the other had moderate injuries.

Their father, Leonard Jiminez, says when he got there, one boy was walking around. He says the other was knocked out and had a bruised liver but will be fine.
