Police shoot, kill man while delivering warrant in D.C.

WASHINGTON — An officer shot and killed a man while the Metropolitan Police Department and U.S. Marshals were delivering a warrant in Southeast D.C. Saturday night.

The D.C. police say that the incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Alabama Avenue and Wheeler Road.

The police say that the marshals and D.C. officers were serving a felony warrant on the 3200 block of Wheeler Road when the man whom they were serving, Michael Abney, 36, of Northeast, brandished a handgun. They say that a marshal and a D.C. officer opened fire, killing him.
