Youngstown State holds on; beats Missouri St. 14-7

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Jody Webb rushed 10 times for 117 yards, including an 81-yard score, to lead Youngstown State to a 14-7 win over Missouri State on Saturday.

Youngstown State (4-1, 1-0 Missouri Valley Football Conference) struck first as Dante Nania threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Williams early in the first. Webb’s long TD run in the second quarter put the Penguins up 14-0.

Youngstown State stopped Missouri State on fourth-and-goal at the 6 with 10:34 left in the game. On the ensuing possession, Missouri State (3-2, 0-1) blocked a punt that was recovered at the Youngstown State 14. Eight plays later, Kierra Harris connecting with Gannon Sinclair for a 4-yard touchdown.

Nania completed 10 of 16 passes for 130 yards with one interception for Youngstown State. Tre’ Moore led the Penguins defense with two interceptions of Harris.
