Man sentenced to 20 years in Maryland shooting

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A man convicted of shooting another man in the back of the head in Brooklyn Park has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Twenty-four-year-old Lamont Dorian Beasley of Baltimore had been convicted in May of attempted first-degree murder. He was sentenced Thursday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court.

The Capital of Annapolis reports (http://bit.ly/1rbjICJ) that prosecutors say Beasley shot Melvin Eugene Johnson on April 25, 2013, outside Charlie Ward’s Convenience Store. Authorities say the shooting appeared to be drug and gang related.
