Man sentenced for possessing homemade explosives

BALTIMORE (AP) — A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison for possessing improvised explosive devices in his Glen Burnie home.

Todd Wheeler of Glen Burnie had pleaded guilty in May to being a prohibited person in possession of firearms, including IEDs. He was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Baltimore.

Wheeler was taken to a hospital on Jan. 1 after an explosion in his home. According to his plea agreement, local and federal officials who searched the home found several improvised explosive devices, as well as the chemicals and explosive materials used to make them.
