Youngster Nylander scores in Maple Leafs’ win

TORONTO (AP) — William Nylander scored in the final minute to cap off the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 4-0 preseason victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.

The 18-year-old Nylander, the No. 8 pick in this year’s draft, is trying to make the team. The Maple Leafs have 17 forwards on one-way contracts but only 13 or 14 spots.

Nylander completed the scoring with 56.2 seconds left. He was robbed of a power-play goal in the second period by Flyers netminder Steve Mason.

James van Riemsdyk, Brandon Kozun and Cody Franson also scored for the Leafs. Jonathan Bernier stopped all 12 shots he faced in 30-plus minutes.
