Silver Alert canceled for Howard County man

UPDATE 5:10 P.M.: Melvin Thomas Owens has returned home unharmed.

EARLIER:

WASHINGTON — Howard County police has issued a Silver Alert.

Melvin Thomas Owens is a 70-year-old black man who stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has brown eyes and is bald with a black beard and mustache.

Owens was seen wearing a plaid shirt, dark blue jeans and black and white athletic shoes. He was driving a four-dour 2011 light blue Hyundai Sonata with Maryland tag 6AJ7827.

He was last seen Monday around 10:30 a.m. near the 9300 block of Matador Raven Road in Columbia, Maryland.

Anyone who has information should call 410-313-3700 or dial 911.
