Temple shuts out Delaware St. 59-0

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Khalif Herbin returned a punt 84 yards for his first career touchdown and Temple went on to complete its largest win in school history with a 59-0 shutout over Delaware State on Saturday.

Temple set the tempo after blocking a Delaware State punt on the first possession of the game, and Artrel Foster returned it 15 yards for a touchdown. The Owls exploded from there, racking up 28 points in the first quarter and 21 in the second to set a school record for the most points in a half.

P.J. Walker threw two touchdown passes — 31 and 5 yards — and finished with 127 yards for Temple (2-1). The Owls’ largest win in school history surpassed the previous 56-0 record set against Holy Cross in 1974.

Delaware State (0-4) combined for 93 total offensive yards, and Gilbert Rivera threw for 56 yards and three interceptions.
