Albany beats Rhode Island 37-20

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Will Fiacchi threw two touchdown passes and Albany scored 37 unanswered points to beat Rhode Island 37-20 on Saturday.

Albany (3-0) was down by two touchdowns late in the first quarter. After Patrick Toole kicked two of his three field goals, Jake Meek ran for a score and Fiacchi connected with Brian Parker for a 9-yard touchdown to give the Great Danes a 20-14 lead.

Albany’s Omar Osbourne ran for 153 yards on 27 carries, including a 28-yard run in the second quarter that led to Meek’s score. Meek added another touchdown in the third quarter to make it 30-14 and Josh Gontarek caught a 9-yard touchdown pass in the fourth.

Mack Lowrie was 18 of 30 and threw one touchdown and one interception for Rhode Island (0-3). Robbie Jackson caught five passes for 97 yards and Ross Kim scored on a 7-yard reception.
