Md. police believe 2 missing kids are dead

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) — Police say they believe two young children who’ve been missing in suburban Maryland for more than a week are dead, and they’re pursuing a homicide case against their mother.

Montgomery County police are searching parks and wooded areas in Clarksburg and Darnestown for 3-year-old Sarah Hoggle and 2-year-old Jacob Hoggle.

Their mother, 27-year-old Catherine Hoggle of Clarksburg, was arrested Friday. She’s been charged with child neglect, obstruction and hindering. Police said Monday that they also plan to charge her with parental abduction.

Court records don’t list an attorney for Hoggle.

Police say Hoggle told investigators that her children were safe, but she wouldn’t say where they were.

Police Capt. Darren Francke asked homeowners in Clarksburg and Darnestown on Monday to search their property for any sign of the children’s bodies.
