Canadian Olympian out for season

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Canadian Olympian Kaetlyn Osmond will miss the fall figure skating season with a broken right leg.

The 18-year-old Osmond underwent surgery on Friday. She was hurt during a practice session when she swerved around another skater and fell.

Osmond, who finished 13th at the Sochi Games, will be sidelined for at least six weeks and has withdrawn from Skate Canada and Trophee Eric Bombard on the Grand Prix circuit.

She hopes to return for Canadian nationals in January.
