CLEVELAND (AP) — New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees has moved into fourth place on the NFL’s career yardage list, surpassing Hall of Famer John Elway.

Brees entered Sunday’s game against Cleveland needing 62 yards to go past Elway, who finished with 51,475 yards. Brees overtook the Denver Broncos legend with a 6-yard pass to tight end Jimmy Graham with 1:56 left in the second quarter.

On the Saints’ previous series, Brees threw an interception that was returned 62 yards for a touchdown.

Brees has a long way to go to move into third place. Next up on the list are: Brett Favre (71,838), Peyton Manning (65,233) and Dan Marino (61,361).

Brees had a rough first half before closing with a flourish. He and Graham combined for 57 yards, including 9 on a TD pass with 3 seconds left that brought the Saints within 16-10.
