Rangers OF Choice gets hurt running bases

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Outfielder Michael Choice has left Texas’ game against Atlanta with a strained left hamstring.

Choice was injured while running the bases on his two-run double in the fifth inning.

Choice had rounded first base and taken a couple of steps when he suddenly slowed and basically hopped into second base. He immediately clutched his left knee after getting to the bag.

Interim manager Tim Bogar and a trainer immediately went out. After conferring briefly with Choice, they carried him off the field so as not to put pressure on his left leg.

About an inning after Choice departed, the Rangers announced that he had a hamstring injury. An MRI was planned for Monday.

Choice also had an RBI triple in Sunday’s game.
