Lee leads Tulane to 35-20 win over SE Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Tanner Lee threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns to lead Tulane to a 35-20 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday night.

A redshirt freshman, Lee has now thrown for eight touchdowns in three games. Lee spread his passes, throwing to seven different receivers. Xavier Rush pulled down two for 84 yards and Justyn Shackleford had four for 76 yards.

Sherman Badie, who totaled 80 yards rushing, scored on an 11-yard run in the first quarter. Tulane (1-2, 0-1 American Athletic Conference) scored 21 unanswered points and led 28-3 at the half.

Southeastern (2-1) was led by Bryan Bennett who threw for 213 yards and one TD. Devante Scott pulled in five passes for 93 yards.

Trailing 35-13 in the final quarter, the Lions were beginning to close the gap, but the Tulane defense thwarted them as Sam Scofield intercepted Bennett and Taurean Nixon recovered a fumble with 4:36 remaining.
