Search continues for trooper’s killer

BLOOMING GROVE, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania State Police say they’re still looking for the person or persons who shot two state troopers outside their barracks last night, killing one and wounding the other.

State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan says authorities are talking to hundreds of people, including a man who was identified earlier as a “person of interest.” But Noonan stresses that he is not a suspect.

Noonan says Cpl. Bryon Dickson was killed and Trooper Alex Douglass was wounded in the ambush outside the Blooming Grove barracks east of Scranton. He says Douglass is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

The barracks is in a wooded area, surrounded by state game lands.

Law enforcement officials from across the region, including New York and New Jersey, descended on the Pocono Mountains to help with the search on foot and by helicopter.

Several roads around the barracks, including parts of Interstate 84, were closed.
