Hurley lifts Delaware over Colgate 28-25

NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Trent Hurley scored on a 5-yard run with 41 seconds remaining to lift Delaware to a 28-25 victory over Colgate on Saturday night.

The winning touchdown came after Colgate went three-and-out for the only time. Michael Johnson returned the punt to the Delaware 43 and Hurley directed the winning 12-play drive, including two fourth-down conversions. Johnson ran in a 2-point conversion.

The Blue Hens (2-1) closed within 25-20 on a 1-yard run by Wes Hills with 7:03 remaining to cap a 50-yard drive that began after Pat Callaway forced a fumble.

Hurley threw for two touchdowns, both to Nick Boyle, completing 25 of 36 for 257 yards with two interceptions.

The Raiders (0-2) fell just short of defeating Delaware for the first time in their six meetings. Jake Melville completed 15 of 25 for 135 yards and ran for 118 yards and a score. Jonah Bowman kicked four field goals.
