Duquesne rides big plays to 33-13 win over Dayton

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Malik Shegog returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown and Devin Rahming followed that with a school-record 84-yard punt return for a score in a big second quarter to lead Duquesne to a 33-13 victory over Dayton on Saturday.

The Dukes (1-2) also had a 4-yard touchdown run by Ryan Ho in the 20-point second quarter and led 23-6 at halftime.

Conor Kacsor scored on a 7-yard run in the third quarter for the Flyers (1-1), but the Dukes answered with Dillon Buechel’s 58-yard touchdown pass to Noel Oduho and a second field goal by Austin Crimmins.

Buechel finished 19-of-28 passing for 218 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Dayton quarterbacks Will Bardo and Blake Bir were a combined 18-of-40 passing for 180 yards and three interceptions.

The Flyers extended their streak of not being shutout to 421 games, the longest active streak in the nation.
