Div. II Henderson State beats Nicholls State 27-10

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Kevin Rodgers threw for 169 yards and one touchdown to lead Division II Henderson State in a 27-10 victory over Nicholls State on Saturday night.

Rodgers’ 16-yard touchdown pass to Mark Czaus and 2-point conversion gave the Reddies an 8-0 lead to start the first quarter. The matchup was Henderson State’s first time facing a Division I opponent since 2011.

The Colonels didn’t score until almost 10 minutes into the third, when Tobias Lofton ran in 5 yards for a touchdown, and closed within 8 after a field goal by Frank Condado to start the fourth.

Jaquan Cole’s 2-yard TD run stretched Henderson State’s lead to 14 points.

Nicholls (0-3) came from a 73-7 loss to Arkansas on Sept. 6, which put an end to the Razorbacks longest losing streak in school history. The Reddies (2-0) routed Southern Nazarene 72-7 on the same day.
