Disney to open ‘Frozen’ ride in 2016

WASHINGTON — The demand for “Frozen” isn’t thawing. Walt Disney World now plans to open a ride based on the popular animated film in the Norway pavilion of the theme park. The new attraction will replace Epcot’s Maelstrom ride, according to the Sun Sentinel.

Disney guests will experience Arendelle and favorite moments from the film and its music, says Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, in a post on the official Disney Parks Blog on Friday afternoon.

The Maelstrom ride opened in 1988. Its last day will be Oct. 5. Disney plans to open the new “Frozen” ride in early 2016.
