Bryant sneaks past Maine late in the 4th, 13-10

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Dalton Easton threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Chad Ward late in the fourth quarter and Bryant edged past Maine 13-10 on Saturday.

Easton threw a 41-yard pass to Ward to start a four play, 74-yard drive that would end with the Bulldogs’ first touchdown — and first lead — with 2:04 left to play.

Easton finished with 301 passing yards and Ward had eight receptions for 123 yards. Bryant (3-0) gained just 33 yards rushing, while the Black Bears finished with 125.

Maine (1-1) had taken the lead 5 minutes into the second quarter after Daniel Collins threw a 5-yard TD pass to Carlton Charles.

Bryant’s Tom Alberti kicked a field goal to bring the Bulldogs within four, 10-6, to close out the first half. Neither team scored again until Bryant’s TD late in the fourth.

Collins completed 9-of-19 passes for a total of 144 yards.
